Are your programs mainly “hands-on” or classroom?

Our programs include “hands-on” training for you to do at home. We firmly believe that the best way to learn is by actually doing it. Reading about dog training is beneficial because ideas are developed, but until you actually put the collar and leash around the dog’s neck, you have no idea if what you read will work. There are as many ways to train a dog as there are dogs. We will show you many different methods of dog training. There will be classroom instruction, independent study, audio visual instruction, specific reading material that must be completed, written assignments, written tests and practical exams.

No, we have developed written material as well as audio and video programs that are yours at no additional charge. You will need to furnish your own dog leashes, collars, etc.

Yes, but you must remember that training a dog is only part of running a business. There are many other aspects to being a business owner, such as bookkeeping, advertising, taxes, etc. We recommend that certain aspects of your business are better left to the professionals.

Do we learn about how to start our own business?

Yes, we offer a program where we will show you different advertising techniques that have proven successful for us, how to price your services, how to develop a clientele, how to get your business up and running, and what areas of dog training are the most profitable. Many great dog trainers are never successful because they do not possess any business sense. We will teach you many of the secrets that will make you successful.

Do I need a large facility or can I conduct my business out of my home?

It is very possible to maintain a business of this type from your home or apartment.  We will show you how to find locations for you to conduct obedience classes from, and how you can offer board and train programs from your home. A large facility is nice, but not necessary. Either way you go, we can teach you how to make your business more profitable.

Are dog trainers in demand or is the market over-saturated?

It doesn’t matter what business venture you enter into, you will always have competition. The same holds true for dog trainers. But as long as people own dogs, there will always be a need for competent dog trainers. By projecting a knowledgeable image and with utilization of the marketing techniques that you will learn, you will be able to start your business with minimal funds, and start making a profit the first month you are in business.
